The difference between steel pipe and fittings

Steel pipes and fittings are all product names, and they are ultimately used in various plumbing projects.

Steel pipe: Steel pipe is a kind of hollow long steel, which is widely used as a pipeline for transporting fluids, such as oil, natural gas, water, gas, steam, etc. In addition, when the bending and torsional strength are the same, the weight is lighter, so It is also widely used in the manufacture of mechanical parts and engineering structures. It is also commonly used to produce various conventional weapons, barrels, shells, etc.

Classification of steel pipes: Steel pipes are divided into two categories: seamless steel pipes and welded steel pipes (seamed pipes). According to the shape of the section, it can be divided into round pipes and special-shaped pipes. The widely used round steel pipes are round steel pipes, but there are also some square, rectangular, semicircular, hexagonal, equilateral triangle, octagonal and other special-shaped steel pipes.

Pipe fittings: are the parts that connect pipes into pipes. According to the connection method, it can be divided into four categories: socket-type pipe fittings, threaded pipe fittings, flanged pipe fittings and welded pipe fittings. Mostly made of the same material as the tube. There are elbows (elbow pipes), flanges, tee pipes, cross pipes (cross heads) and reducers (large and small heads). Elbows are used where pipes turn; flanges are used for parts that connect pipes to each other, connected to pipe ends, tee pipes are used where three pipes converge; four-way pipes are used where four pipes converge; Diameter pipes are used where two pipes of different diameters are connected.

The steel pipe is used in the straight part of the pipeline, and the pipe fittings are used in the bends in the pipeline, the outer diameter becomes larger and smaller, one pipeline is divided into two pipelines, one pipeline is divided into three pipelines, etc.

Tube to tube links are generally welded and flanged links are the most common. There are various links for pipe fittings, including flat welding, butt welding, plug welding, flange links, threaded links, and tube clip links.
